Liber Fatalis: First Year Cookies!

Background information that needs to be known about Harry’s first year. Harry is sharing a room with two other boys- Alexis and Leon, both are second years. They’re a bit popular and silly, similar to Fred and George in a way.

First Year circulum at Beauxbatons are the following: Magical Theory, Spellwork, History of Magic, Literature, Potions, Open Period that is mainly used as a Study Hall, save the time first years need to learn things such as flying, or have to attend some sort of demonstration.

Magical Theory and Spellwork will go hand in hand, where Spellworks acts as a practical/lab work to Magical theory. Potions has a portion where students learn to collect their ingredients as well as make potions. First years do a bit of herbology. Unsure about what years would learn to collect ingredients from magical creatures and whatnot….

Hopefully that is enough background info for you guys to read these cookies.

“Your fairy ate all my chocolate!” Leon said to Harry. Leon’s candy stashed was ravaged completely, leaving nothing but discarded wrappers left over. Harry turned to Marie, obviously unhappy with his familiar. Marie shook her head in protest, pointing at Alexis who was attempting to make his way out of the room.

The two boys turned to Alexis. Alexis glared at Marie. Marie stuck out her tongue in response.

“I knew I shouldn’t have been so cheap when bargaining with her…”

“Remember how you promised to go to whatever club activity that I choose this week?” Brie asked Harry over breakfast. After swallowing a mouth full of eggs, Harry murmured an affirmation.

“Well. I really want to go to the stitching club today. Christmas is a month away and I want to get some help starting a scarf for my dad…”

Harry’s fork stilled in the air, the eggs that he had scooped up fell back onto his plate, on top of the bacon. The stitching club? Harry had enough trouble trying to explain to people the one time he had accidentally took a wrong turn and ended up sitting through the baking club’s activity. Being seen at the stitching club was only going to cause the teasing to increase tenfold. Not to mention the fact that Alexis and Leon were not going to let him live it down.

If only Brie could have picked something like Quidditch or even the book club? Harry could justify a good fantasy novel. Explaining the stitching club was just downright embarrassing.

“Brie… I don’t think-” Harry began to stammer out only to shut his mouth once Brie glared at him. For a girl that had a reputation of being sweet, she could be downright scary when she wanted to be, especially if it involved not getting her way.

“I mean… couldn’t you…”

“You. Promised. Me.” Each word was like an exclamation. Harry could feel a chill run down his spine just thinking about what would happen if he continued to protest. Marie had already taken sanctuary behind Harry, already feeling the change of mood that the quarter veela exerted.

“Okay.” His tone reflected his obvious displeasure with his agreement. Gabrielle didn’t pay any attention to it and threw her arms around Harry, happy that he was going to accompany her to this week’s stitching club activity

Miha sent him a look of pity.

“What’s your favorite color Harry?”

Harry looked up from his magical theory textbook to look at Alexis, who waited for an answer expectantly. Harry never did have a real preference for color, though if he were to choose colors, he would pick red and gold, if only a recollection of a dream he once had.

“Red and gold.”

Alexis nodded and wrote something down in the notebook he had.

“If you were stranded on a deserted island, what book would you bring with you?”

“What books? Wait, what is all this for?”

“History class requires us to research a famous wizard in the 20th century and write a report on them. I decided I’ll write my paper on you Harry, seeing how you’re the-boy-who-lives-in-the-same-room-as-me. Saves me the trouble of going to the library.”

“I really don’t think Monsieur Durance meant this when he told you to research a famous wizard…”

“Hey Harry! If you were a flavor of ice cream, what flavor would you be?” Leon entered the room, dropping his books at the entrance of the room.

“Why couldn’t you guys pick someone like Albus Dumbledore to write about?” Harry yelled at the two boys. They looked at him as if he were stupid.

“Obviously because he’s not living in the same room as us.”

“Go away!”
